Project: Tuiles

Recently I felt like baking cookies. Tuiles to be specific! Now tuiles are really great thin crispy cookies and mostly comes in a curly appealing shape.

I’ve baked tuiles before and I liked it!
Tuiles are also often used as being a part of dessert or being a canapé. And definitely tea/coffee breaks friendly!

Da Recipe: 75 gr plain flour, 75 gr icing sugar, 75 gr melted butter, 2 tbsp. caraway seeds, 1 tbsp. cinnamon, 2 egg whites

They kind of taste like cumin somewhere...

Just smear them out like you are painting the baking paper.

You have to work really fast with the curling process. Careful not burning your fingers!

 Da Steps:

  1. Get your baking tray + baking paper ready. Sieve the plain flour + icing sugar. Add the frothy eggwhites to it and stir until it's smooth.
  2. Than add in the melted butter and combine well.
  3. Add the caraway & cinnamon powder and mix well.
  4. Rest the mixture in the fridge for around 30 minutes.
  5. Pre-heat oven to 200°C.
  6. Use a spatula and spoon out the dough on the baking tray. Smoothed it out thinly, it should cover the baking paper.
  7. Bake them for around 5 minutes in the oven. The edge should be golden brown.
  8. Now the fun yet crucial part: curling it! Take them out of the oven and use a knife/frosting spatula to scoop up the tuiles. Curl the cookies with a rollerpin, winebottle or hands.
Good luck!
